WOMEN HEALTH

Ayurveda places significant emphasis on addressing the diverse physiological conditions that women experience throughout their lives. Common challenges faced by women include menstrual disorders, infertility, polycystic ovarian disease, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, as well as post-menopausal syndromes.

Ayurveda offers a holistic approach to women's well-being:

  1. Hormonal Balance

  2. Fertility and Reproductive Health

  3. Menstrual Health

  4. Infertility

The approach involves addressing agnimandya (weak digestion) and tridosha dushti (imbalance in the three doshas).

Common factors contributing to infertility, such as age, diabetes, eating disorders, environmental toxins, and stress, are acknowledged in Ayurveda. Prevention involves avoiding these risk factors, while treatment modalities include Shamana (medicinal treatments) and Shodhana (purification therapies like panchakarma).

  1. Uttara Basti: A notable Ayurvedic procedure for infertility, Uttara Basti involves local purification of the uterus. It is particularly beneficial in pre-conception care, strengthening the uterus to support a healthy pregnancy.

Benefits of Uttara Basti include:

  • Uterine cleansing (garbhashaya shuddhi)

  • Balancing and nourishing the uterus

  • Addressing local causative factors like unhealthy endometrium, tubal blockage, cervical issues, or ovulatory causes.

The method involves three cycles:

  1. Shodhana (cleansing)

  2. Shamana (pacifying)

  3. Brumhana (nourishing)

Administered post-menstruation, with due aseptic precautions, Uttara Basti utilizes suitable medications, such as ghee or oil, tailored to the individual's condition. Each cycle serves a distinct purpose, contributing to overall gynecological health and fertility.

In summary, Ayurveda provides a comprehensive and personalized approach to women's well-being, addressing not only specific health issues but also promoting overall balance and vitality.
